There is no way to get viruses or spyware on a Wii. It doesnt have an operating system like a normal computer where you cn just install stuff. Colsoles are very different to computers in this aspect. Viruses and spyware work by targeting certain files within an operating system. For Windows this might be explorer.exe or for OSX or Linux it might be the kernel file (I have no idea what the extension for that is). Either way a console doesnt have any of these so a virus or spyware would have to be specificaly designed to target something more flexible with the console. That being said a console uses what is called firmware for its basic instructions which is semi hard coded into the consoles hardware and cannot be altered by normal means making many forms of virus useless anyway. All this is besides the point anyway, no-one has figured out how to run unsigned code on a Wii yet anyway so it is impossible to even make a virus or spyware for the Wii which means that the Wii is currently one of the safest web browsers available

A tracking cookie is not a virus. It is always coming up because you keep visiting the same site that it comes from.

Many websites contain tracking cookies....they are non threatening.

If they really bother you (as they do me) just schedule a daily overnight spyware scan %26 remove them each morning.

Unfortunately odds are that the site in question will deny you access if you disable cookies.

To add to that. Penicillin inhibits peptidoglycan crosslinking. The bacterial cell wall is made of peptidoglycan. Penicillin only kills dividing cells because of this. That is why when you take an antibiotic your doctor tells you to finish the bottle even if you feel better half way through. If you almost kill the infection and you stop, some of the few surviving bacteria some may have confered resistance and when the infection comes back, the antibiotics might not work so well anymore.

However the overuse of anti-biotics has caused bacteria to change the makeup of their membrane/become immune to anti-biotics.

Do you keep getting annoying pop-ups all the time? I had this and i downloaded all this stuff to try to get rid of it but nothing worked. Then I read somewhere that it like ''faked'' itself as a .exe file so the spyware software would not find it. What worked for me is I went into my ''Add/Delete Programs'' in Control Panel and it showed up as a program. I was able to delete it that way and I haven't had a problem since. I now keep PC Spyware Doctor on my computer as well as the pop up blockers through Google Toolbar and Yahoo toolbar on my machine.

what I would do is go to google and search for AVG Free and Spybot Search and destroy ( make sure you get spybot and not spywarebot%26lt;-----its a virus). I personally use the programs and they work great. Best of all THEY ARE FREE :)

most virus are spread through IE. IE is not a safe browser. you should use a more secure browser to protect your PC from virus.

First, here's some basic history that's relevant to your questions.

Back in the day -- late 80's to the late 90's almost all viruses, malware, trojans, ect.. were intended to either do malicious damage or display some kind of political or personal view. It's annoying but there really isn't any way to stop it unless you never use myspace or fix your profile so no one can add you or message you unless it's just your friends or people you know.. Whenever you get those requests and messages you can usually tell it's a virus or some kind of spam. Report it as spam and delete it! That's what I do.
I had that happen, so I just started reporting them as spam to myspace. They seemed to have died down a lot since then.

What that means is you are protected from all of the viruses that it knows of to the date when it started saying that. Now since it has expired and it won't update it's definitions it will never be able to catch newer viruses.. So at this point your computer is still very vulnerable.. You can tell the difference between those pirate music videos and mere spyware by looking at the file size; if it is too small or much too large for what you are expecting, don't hit download. Also, read the EULA all the way through if you download any software; its not uncommon for them to bundle spyware with real programs.

If you think its too late, I recommend Lavasoft Ad-Aware and Norton Antivirus, which have fried many dangerous bugs. Turn on Windows Firewall too, or if you don't trust Microsoft there are plenty of aftermarket firewalls out there for you to choose from. A good up-to-date Anti-Virus program and some common sense. Do not, for example download an mp3 which is 2KB in size! That is not realistic for an mp3; more like 5MB. I had a lot of problems with Limewire because most of the files were corrupt or had pop ups attached. I highly recommend using Ares. U do have to pay a one time fee but believe me it's worth what I have downloaded, especially stuff u shouldn't be able to get a hold of yet, if u know what I mean. Also it's totally anonymous when ur downloading so no worries.
Yes, they can often track you because the installed program might attempt to send details over the internet of the computer that it's installed on. IE, yours.

So if you stick to just video files and audio file you SHOULD be ok (no guarantees, there never is). But I recommend you download from the Bittorrent network. They're haven't been any reported cases of viruses on the xbox. More than likely it's either a heat issue or a problem with the DVD reader. Make sure the vents on the side are free of dust and aren't blocked by anything, that may help. The link I added discusses a little about why it is VERY unlikely a virus.

I think someone has hacked or modded the game, this has happened before from getting games on Ebay.
Most likely this is NOT a virus, however, if it is JUST THIS GAME, its probably the disk. If it will happen in other games, ur system is getting too hot cause lots of people had freeze up problems. Put it in a cool place, and DO NOT PUT your power box on the carpet!
The new 360's most certainly can. I'm not sure how you would scan it or fix the problem, but there should be information on their website.

Other possibilities:

* You could have a bad copy of the game disc (especially if it's pirated).

* No matter what you've heard from the company, some games run better on the 'deluxe' 360 than on the 'basic' model.

Then again, it's a Microsoft product so that could be normal operation. :)

the on;y thing i can suggest is go into start then control panel then add or remove programs and in there delete any corupt files but your best bet is to buy the software otherwise your computer could get to the point of not working

I have downloaded Avast, AVG, Superantispyware and so many others but they wont remove or delete the viruses (or whatever it is) at all!!

that sounds more like adware/spyware to me. Goto www.download.com and download Lavasoft's Ad-aware and give that one a shot. Doesnt seem like a virus to me.

If that isnt it it could also be Windows messenger (a nice little program installed within your OS) to turn it off go into your control panel/administrative tools/services. Scroll down to Messenger and double click on it and disable it and stop the service.

I am not familiar with this chat website.. However, you should be directing your report of abuse to them so that they can track down the user and fix things.

Reporting the abuse here does nothing to assist you.

The website and their ISP will have logs of the attackers IP address and would be able to either block them, clean the viruses, protect against future viruses, etc..

i've been using limewire for about a year and have had no viruses from it. they are suppose to be safe not like some previous type of sites.
i have heard that but i'm not sure you should download some sort of virus protection (mcafee, avg, nortons, etc.) before you download limewire just to be on the safe side
it can depending if the file has a virus..i have norton anti virus just to be safe but with my computer when its done downloading someting right before it saves it to my computer is says theres a corruption in the file and i can cancel it before it saves but thats with mine i dont know if urs would do that
not if you adjust your settings so that nobody can download from your computer. its like your downloading music from a million different peoples computer. now if u download documents u may get a couple now and then but if you have a virus protectent than you should be fine....but just for music, adjust that setting so no one can download from you because thats where you get viruses is when people download from you....this is one thing you CANT share...haha.....hope this is help to you

When i right-click a folder and press scan for viruses nothing happens!!?

Whenever i try to right click soething and press scan for viruses nothing happens. Im using Symantec AntiVirus and usually when i right click a folder and press scan for viruses a small box comes up saying that its scanning it, but lately when i try it nothing happens. Has anyone got any idea how to fix this? If i have to i dont mind installing another antivirus program but as long as it has a feature where i can quickly scan a folder for viruses like this program used to.

Sometimes some files in your antivirus software might have been corrupted due to a some problem.Try to fix this by reinstalling the antvirus software.any how if you like to install another antivirus software you can install AVG free edition.

Yes... There is the potential of getting viruses through Limewire. But there is also the potential of getting viruses through email, web browsing, and just about anything else when you are connected to the internet.

Just make sure you have updated virus protection installed.

Some particular files do, I've been using it for a while and haven't encountered any viruses, but i'm sure there a viruses in Limewire. Just don't download suspicious items (always download the ones with good ratings and stars) and it will be a smooth sailing ride.

Yesterday i was on my laptop and whenever i was on my laptop it kept on redirecting me to a new website. I went to control panel and blocked the websites and i closed the lid to my laptop and went to bed. Today its being really crazy! My background has changed by itself to what seems like a giant link that says your Computer is in DANGER! and pop ups keep on coming up to say you are in harm. Im not sure if those popups are even more viruses. Please help this is a work computer that i got from my work and i will need to return it. Ugh, please do not install Norton. It slows down your computer and uses rootkits (funnily enough, since thats what you are trying to prevent) to block some viruses.

Kaspersky or NOD32 are by far the way to go. AVG is also decent.

i use to use norton but that slows the computer down. Now I use kaspersky. Never had a problem with it and it doesn't slow the computer down. I highly recommend it. I bought mine off of ebay for 20 bucks, but I can use it for 3 computers
Free with a registration for avast home. It isn't the best but it is free. Norton makes the best antivirus software. It is not free though.
