Will re-formatting the computer wipe it clean of viruses and trojans? Or do they linger still...?

I don't trust the idea of downloading various scanners and searchers to destroy trojans and viruses. My computer got infected with six trojans. While I have Ad-Aware, AVG free, and on and on and on... I still keep getting a pop-up and I'd like to re-format and start all over if that is the ultimate true sure-fire way of getting rid of trojans and viruses. I am aware that I am starting allllll over again but that is what I'd like to do.

Yes, but re-format your computer and install a fresh copy of windows while the Internet cable is not plug-in. Otherwise, you will get viruses again in the instalation process.

You should try superantispyware. This might be the one thing that will help you. It is free.
IF you do a complete system format, and re-install your operating system (windows), then yes, it will completely wipe it clean.
formatting gets rid of EVERYTHING!
If you are using Windows XP,do you know to Disable "System Restore" before cleaning viruses, etc?
Not necessarily. It might get rid of your pop up, but some virii and trojans settle in the BIOS chip, which keeps them from being deleted. Have you gone through all the instructions for removing these trojans? You can go to www.symantec.com and usually find the program that was infecting your computer as well as removal instructions.
Yes, unless you have a virus in your system BIOS chip, then it will re infect after the formatting.
You have the right idea, take everything off then clean the hard drive. and do as soon as possible, we waited a couple days and after we turned it on my hard drive went caput
Not always,
